Danny grew up in New Hampshire, in a working class family with eight siblings. He worked his way through college at the University of Arizona, and law school at UCLA. He practiced law in California for 39 years, where he primarily served average working-class people trying to navigate the complex legal system.
After being diagnosed with cancer and experiencing life-threatening health issues, Danny moved to Mesa to recuperate and be with family. Danny is now fully recovered, with a deep appreciation for life and a strong desire to make a meaningful contribution with his new life.
Danny has contributed to his community as a substitute teacher in Mesa Public Schools. It was a way to do something meaningful and to supplement his income, as his retirement savings were depleted due to our costly healthcare system.
Danny has faced adversity and financial hardship, and those challenges have given him a deeper appreciation for the shortness of life, the need to spend time meaningfully, and what really matters. Danny is committed to using his experience and learning to serve others with dignity, empathy, compassion, and integrity.
Running for Mesa City Council isn’t a networking or political career opportunity for Danny. He answered the call from progressive groups to challenge the District 5 status quo. Danny will put the best interests of Mesa residents first - not just the well-connected few; to treat everyone with fairness, particularly residents from marginalized identities, who have been historically excluded from decision-making processes.
