Progressive Values

Progressives emphasize treating all people with respect, compassion and equality, beginning with assuring everyone has food, water, shelter, medical support, a good education, equal protection of laws, and a fair opportunity at a good life. Elevating human beings is the ultimate purpose of government, not making the “rich richer”. Resources and taxes should be used for the common good of all people. Danny wants to put “people first”. Big businesses, corporations, real estate developers and the rich do not need to gobble up all our resources. It's okay to use it for the people who really need it.

Danny pledges that he will always serve Mesa with integrity and compassion and based on facts and evidence to make the best possible pragmatic decisions for the average residents. Danny has a proven track record of community involvement. His dedication to help people over corporations and billionaires drives his campaign to bring fresh perspectives and effective caring representation on your City Council.

Some Things Danny Likes:

  • Government "of the people, by the people, for the people" should act as an equalizer of opportunity, providing equal education, social programs and regulation of industries to protect the common good.

  • Progressive taxation. Raise the minimum wage to a livable wage to provide a "decent standard of living". Strong regulation of monopolies or large corporations. Strive for economic equality.

  • Ensure quality education, affordable housing, and childcare for all citizens.

  • Protect LGBTQ+ rights, racial equality, reproductive rights and marginalized groups.

  • Aggressive action on climate change, including green energy transition and strict environmental regulations and comprehensive environmental legislation.

  • Treat health care as a human right, with a universal, government-run system “Medicare for All”.

  • Expand access to education, including student loan debt relief.

  • Move beyond the status quo, aim to solve systemic problems rather than just managing them.

  • Protect union organizing and promote collective bargaining.

  • Increase taxes on highest-income households and corporations to pay their fair share.

  • Protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security for our seniors and vulnerable populations.

  • Make voting as easy as possible consistent with reasonable security that does not reduce the ability of poor, disabled, elderly and working folks to exercise their constitutional right to vote.

  • Diplomacy over war and the use of force, except as a last resort to protect vital American interests.

  • Hold leadership to the highest standards of ethical moral behavior to set a good example for our youth. Support independent nonpartisan boards to monitor and enforce ethics for all government officials and employees.

  • Require merit, competence, and integrity over blind loyalty to politicians.

  • Strengthen our great institutions to serve the people, do not use their imperfection as an excuse to eliminate them and privatize public services.

  • Protect critical services for working people, veterans, children, minorities, the elderly, the poor, the homeless, and all other at-risk populations.

Commitment to Mesa: Look out for all residents.

As a candidate for Mesa City Council, I am dedicated to traditional progressive values for social, economic, and political change to reduce inequality and improve society through active government intervention. My focus is on improving civility in public discourse and working together to build a stronger, more fair and more inclusive Mesa by focusing on the needs of all the working families and struggling residents.

Hold Leaders to the highest ethical standards

I believe in respectful dialogue and a commitment to the highest standards of ethics in public service. Mesa residents deserve transparency, accountability, and integrity from every elected official and city employee. I will champion policies that foster open communication and ensure our city government operates with the utmost honesty.

Address the climate crisis

The climate crisis is a critical issue that impacts our community and future generations. I am committed to exploring and implementing sustainable solutions that protect our environment, conserve resources, and promote a healthier Mesa for everyone.

Create good-paying jobs and support unions

A thriving Mesa needs a strong economy that benefits all its residents. I believe in fostering an environment that creates more good-paying jobs and actively supports our unions, ensuring fair wages and excellent working conditions for our community.

"So, let us not be blind to our differences--but let us also direct attention to our common interests and to the means by which those differences can be resolved. And if we cannot end now our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity. For, in the final analysis, our most basic common link is that we all inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children's future. And we are all mortal”
